About this event

True Story DRAFT is a free or donation-based* monthly social workshop for anyone who wants to share and listen to early drafts of true, personal stories in a casual, friendly setting above a pub near London Bridge.

Our goal is to help participants to shape true stories from their lives into short, well-crafted pieces that could be told around a dinner table or at a future True Story show -- or just for the fun of it. So that means we are focused on the story form rather than other forms of creative expression and ask that you be, too! We use a best-practices listening guide and elicit principles of storytelling via 4-5 live examples over the course of 90 minutes. Our facilitators and story coaches share broadly applicable tips and lessons on story craft via the discussion whenever possible.

When signing up, you'll be invited to choose either Storyteller or Listener. Storytellers, please respond to this simple form, and arrive with a written or unwritten draft of a true story no longer than five minutes to share out loud, receive feedback from other storytellers, listeners, and coaches. Listeners, feel free to simply come along to listen and offer feedback to help others develop their stories. The format is casual and conversational, with an emphasis on building community through stories. If this sounds like a vibe you'd like, we'd love to have you join us.

PRIOR SIGNUP is required. If you'd like to share a story, please select the 'Storyteller' ticket type. There is limited space for storytellers.

CHANGE OF PLANS? If you sign up and cannot attend, PLEASE be sure to change your status to 'not attending' to allow space for someone else / someone from the waitlist. Thanks in advance for your help with this.

*Donations are used toward the cost of the room rental.
